At the end of this month, I will retire as president of Albany State University, a position I’ve held for nearly five years. I came to Albany after holding various roles in the University System of Georgia, and have witnessed the resilience of this university to rebuild after a natural disaster and grow from a college to a university.

This past weekend, thousands of alumni, family and friends from all over the country converged on Albany for the annual Albany State University homecoming celebration. Homecoming could not happen without the support of this entire community, from our elected and appointed officials to the residents who tolerate the extra traffic and crowds. ASU’s homecoming produces the largest economic impact of any event that takes place in Albany each year.
