I’m Deidra Langstaff of Langstaff Marketing.  This is a reminder that your business and everything about your business is a reflection on your company as a whole and how you’ve done business for years.  But when I say that to company, what I really mean to them is, it is about everything.  It’s about how you interact with your employees, it’s about the actual physical building that you’re in, what does it look like on the outside?  Where did you choose to put your business?  And what does it look like on the inside?  Has it been 35 years since you’ve painted?  Those are the things that are important.

And when we talk about marketing, people always assume we mean advertising and we’re talking about putting an ad on television or running a Facebook ad or whatever it may be, but really, when we start off putting together a strategy, those are the basic that we talk about.  Who are you?  Who is your company?  And do we need to spruce you up?  You know, do we need to go out and put on a new set of clothes for your company?

So that’s really important.  When I say that marketing is everything, that’s what I’m talking about.  It truly is everything.  It’s how you put your ad out on one of the employment sites when you’re trying to get someone new to come to your company.  How do you present yourself?  That right there is more important than some ad that you might have in a medium online or elsewhere.

The other thing that I think is extremely important is, when you are interacting with people, how do you provide your customer service and not just the customer service in terms of speaking to a person on the phone or having direct contact with them, one-on-one, but what happens after you have closed the deal or after they have come into the store and they’ve left?  Are you communicating with them?  Do you have thank you notes?  What is it that you’re doing that offers that special touch?  That truly is marketing.

And once again, remember, marketing is everything and everything is marketing.
