Transcript:

Hi, my name is Sandra Edge and I'm the Deputy Director of Albany ARC, which stands for Albany Advocacy Resource Center. And we are an agency that provides services and supports for people with disabilities in 14 counties. I am the mother of 30-year-old triplets and one of them was both with a significant disability. I also have a 21-year-old son; I can't leave him out. So I have four children, but one of the triplets was born with Spina bifida and hydrocephalus and at that point I was an educator but having a daughter with a disability has led me to the opportunities and to work in this field. So I've done this for about 20 years, 30 personally but 20 professionally.

Albany ARC was started by Annette Bowling about 40 years ago and almost everyone in Albany, I'm sure everyone in Albany, knows Annette Bowling. She has worked tirelessly to develop services and support people with disabilities and she's also very connected to the State Legislators and they rely on her to be their voice and opinion on behalf of people with disabilities. I've worked with her the last six years and she worked closely with her. I spend more time with her than I do with anyone else, learning what she knows, getting to know the people she knows so that I can pick up the gauntlet and carry it on as she starts to slow down.
