Certified Nurse Practitioner Lynette Talley with Women's Health Professionals discusses how midwives offer extra care, compassion and comfort for expectant mothers.

Hi I’m Lynette Tally. I am a Nurse Practitioner for Women’s Health and I’m also a Certified Nurse Midwife. I work at Women’s Health Professionals in Albany Georgia.

Many people ask me “so what’s the difference between a midwife and a physician and why would I want to choose a midwife?” And really, there’s more interaction between the patient and the midwife. We do a lot of teaching and we educate so the more you know as a patient the better prepared you are and the less frightened you’ll be. Typically a midwife will be with you throughout your labor or a majority of the labor process and help you in the delivery of your baby and stay with you for a period of time after your delivery to answer any questions and to help you as you engage in this moment of motherhood.

A midwife is definitely going to be there to hold your hand and to assist you and walk you through the process; through your pregnancy as well as through the labor. And they’re available to answer any questions and they’ll take the time to sit with you and prepare you adequately for that time; that big day that you’ll anxiously awaits.

So I’m Lynette Tally, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse Midwife. If you want more information, you can log on to our web address at WomensHealthAlbany.com and our phone number is (229) 883-4555.
