My name is Judy Randle. I’m the owner at Central Monitoring. We’re a local company here in Albany. We install burglar and fire alarm systems in homes and business and commercial properties as well. Many times people use alarm companies they’re located in other cities and unfortunately then when they need service they have difficulty getting someone to come in to repair if there’s something wrong with their system.

We install burglar fire alarm systems as well camera systems. We’ve seen a recent increase in the number of people installing camera systems in their businesses. They’re trying to protect their inventory. They’re protecting their stockroom. They see what the employees are doing. As the economy has people worried, they’re worried about their supplies and the things in their office that they need to protect and that’s part of the assets of their business.

We need to be sure that people remember that fire protection is important in their business. A vast majority of businesses that suffer a fire never reopen. I don’t remember exact statistics but it’s 70 to 80% of businesses that suffer a fire are never able to reopen their business. So it’s very important that they have fire protections for their businesses.

We can attach a piece of equipment to the heating and air system so if you have someone try and break in to the heating and air system for your building to steal the cooper or the metal in the system, it would set off an alarm and hopefully frighten those people away or prevent them if they see the alarm system, preventing them from even trying. Most of the criminals are pretty lazy. They’re going to go to the easy targets. They’re not going to, if there are two or three buildings next to each other, they’re going to go to the one that doesn’t have an alarm system.
