Albany State University (ASU) provides safe, fun, and enriching summer camp opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students. Additional camps will be added to this list.

Albany State Youth Enrichment Program (ASYEP)  6/3 - 7/19 

  • Deadline to Register: May 17 
  • Cost: Free  
  • Age Requirement: 7-14 years old 

The Albany State Youth Enrichment Program (ASYEP) is a community outreach initiative designed to provide youth within the city of Albany and Dougherty County, Georgia, and the surrounding counties an opportunity to engage in various enrichment activities. 

The primary venture of the program is to include youth development, physical fitness and wellness, and the development of social and academic skills. Youth will engage in hands-on sports activities (basketball, volleyball, softball, kickball, and swimming), and immersive academic courses. This summer outreach program will also allow participants to think and begin planning their educational and professional careers.

Solar Energy Summer Camp – A Step Towards a Green Sustainable Society | 6/3 - 6/14

The Solar Energy Summer Camp - “A Step Towards a Green Sustainable Society” is themed as a two-week clean energy summer program for  30 local high schoolers (9th-12th grade) by increasing their awareness of the scientific, technological, economic, environmental, and practical knowledge in solar energy, along with hands-on activities to train them with state of art techniques and cutting-edge technologies in clean energy, exposing them to all possible clean energy-related career pathways.

National Summer Transportation Institute Program | 6/3 - 6/28  

  • Deadline to Register: May 15  
  • Cost: Free   
  • Age Requirement: 9th-12th grade  

The Federal Highway Administration funds the Summer Transportation Institute program through the Georgia Department of Transportation.  The program aims to expose minority youths to career opportunities in the transportation industry. The program will include field trips, including an overnight trip.

ASU Accelerated Research Training Experience & Mentorship in STEM (ARTEMIS) Precollege Summer Institute (PSI) Scholars Program | 6/2 - 6/15

  • Age Requirement: 15-17 Years Old (Rising 10th & 11th Graders)  

 The ASU Accelerated Research Training Experience & Mentorship in STEM (ARTEMIS) Precollege Summer Institute (PSI) is a two-week, day residential camp for rising sophomore and junior high school students interested in pursuing a STEM-based career, sponsored by NASA.   

Participating students will explore careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The ARTEMIS Precollege Summer Institute offers active, hands-on learning in STEM, and college preparation and career-based mentoring. ASU students, faculty, and staff organize a week of creative activities and lessons incorporating science into the daily curricula, including flying UAVs (drones), launching rockets, microcontrollers, and chemistry. Students will also participate in a week-long Data Science and Artificial Intelligence workshop hosted in part by Wells Fargo.  

Students will also be introduced to real-world science applications through off-campus trips to locations such as the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The program is committed to enhancing science education and increasing the number of minorities and women in STEM fields.   

Program includes:  

  • Two weeks of housing and meals (costs covered)  
  • Supplies for STEM Activities  
  • Field Trip to the Kennedy Space Center, Orlando, Florida

NASA Summer STEM Enrichment Program | 6/10 - 6/28

  • Age Requirement: (Rising 6th-12th Grades)

Session 2: Ardruino & Robotics | June 17 – June 20  

Session 3: Game Design & Music | June 24 – June 27  

ASU's Center for Blockchain Innovation and Emerging Technology will host its annual Summer STEM Enrichment Program at ASU's East Campus. ASU will provide three uniquely themed sessions of week-long STEM Camps. Each session consists of fun hands-on STEM/STEAM activities that provide students with technology, problem-solving, challenges, and cooperative activities. Sessions are designed to help students develop the skills, knowledge, and capabilities needed for our technology-driven world. Both girls and boys will find fun and creative activities in our week-long camp sessions. Programs will include take-home components so that participants can continue expanding their knowledge!  

The camp will be Monday through Thursday with a morning session from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and an afternoon session from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
