CTS Cement Manufacturing Corp. (CTS) is hosting an open house on Sat., Feb. 17, 2024, to recruit more than 20 full-time employees for its new production facility in Cordele, GA. Open positions for the Monday-through-Friday day shift operation range from management to equipment operation and quality control to mechanical and electrical maintenance. CTS is North America’s largest producer of calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement, a lower-emissions alternative to portland cement sold globally under the Rapid Set® brand. The company employs almost 250 people nationwide at locations including the home office in Garden Grove, CA, and four other U.S. production facilities.

Sales of CTS cements, concretes, and mortars have steadily increased since its founding in 1960. To meet growing demand, the company made the largest single investment in its history to adapt 146 partially developed acres for cement and dry-mix concrete and technical mortar blending and packaging. As the company’s largest U.S. production facility, Cordele will produce the full bag and box product line for distribution across the entire southeastern U.S., Puerto Rico, and Europe.

CTS prides itself on operating safely and efficiently. Three production lines powered from one control center run process-management software that carefully monitors and controls drying, batching, weighing, mixing, and packing. The process incorporates state-of-the art automation and process controls throughout each manufacturing stage to meet the highest quality standards. Vented material handling transfer points collect nuisance dust, and reclaim systems minimize waste while helping maintain a clean and safe working environment.

CTS Cement Manufacturing (CTS) is a growing employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) company that employs almost 250 people nationwide. “Our company’s steady growth is due to our quality, innovative products, and the high caliber of our fellow employee-owners,” says President and CEO Ken Vallens. This photo was taken at the company’s booth at the annual World of Concrete trade show in Las Vegas, NV.

“Given our commitment to sustainability, we’re particularly happy to have repurposed a site that already had some industrial development, rail access, and is strategically located near the Port of Savannah,” says President and CEO Ken Vallens. “We found that property in the ‘gateway to south Georgia.’”

“Our community is excited to welcome CTS,” says Cordele-Crisp County Industrial Development Authority Chairman Dickie Dowdy. “It’s an excellent company that will create great jobs for our area.” Dowdy also thanks the project’s other partners: the City of Cordele; Crisp County Power Commission; Crisp County Board of Commissioners; Georgia Department of Economic Development; South Georgia Technical College; and Genesee & Wyoming Inc. through its subsidiary, the Heart of Georgia Railroad.

CTS is 100% employee-owned; all new employees will be eligible to earn shares of company stock for retirement in addition to a traditional company-sponsored 401(k) retirement account. Studies consistently show that employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) companies outperform non-ESOP companies.

CTS VP of Operations Joel Williamson and Cordele plant managers look forward to meeting their future team members on Feb. 17!
