Turner Job Corps Center Literacy Drive Announced

Thursday, March 4th, 2021

Turner Job Corps Center (TJCC) is proud to embark on a new service project to improve literacy in our community by collecting books for the Family Literacy Connection and Open Arms Inc. during the month of March. This is one of four service projects the Turner Job Corps Center will participate in during 2021 to celebrate Management & Training Corporation’s (MTC) 40thanniversary! In 1981, MTC was founded with a mission to help at-risk, underserved men and women change their lives through education and training.

MTC operates the Turner Job Corps Center in the Albany and Southwest Georgia region for young adults, ages 16-24.

“We’re so excited to do what we can to support the Family Literacy Connection and Open Arms Inc.”, says Nathaniel Cooper, TJCC Center Director.  “MTC was founded on the principles of helping others change their lives through education and training—and literacy is key to that mission.”

“We are so appreciative of this partnership and effort. Our young people will definitely benefit from our organization receiving the books”, remarks Dr. Fonda Thompson, Executive Director of Open Arms Inc.

At the end of book drive, the Turner Job Corps Center representative will tally up the number of books that were donated and deliver them to the Family Literacy Connection and Open Arms Inc. on March 31, 2021.

If the community would like to support this effort, they may see the attached flyer and/or contact TJCC’s Business and Community Liaison, Victoria Green Brackins at 229-319-3436 or [email protected] for important details.
