Tuesday, February 18th, 2020

Attorney General Chris Carr announced the release of a Spanish version of the office’s Consumer Protection Guide for Older Adults. The guide includes an array of topics of importance to seniors, including scams, identity theft, credit and debt, reverse mortgages, charitable giving, home repairs, funerals, advance directives, long-term care, elder abuse and more.

“Older adults, especially those for whom English is a second language, can be particularly vulnerable to scams and deceptive practices,” said Attorney General Chris Carr. “Protecting our most vulnerable residents is a critical part of our consumer protection mission. This comprehensive guide was designed to empower older adults, their families and caregivers by providing information about how to make wise decisions about their money, safety and well-being and how to recognize and avoid fraud and exploitation.”

The guide will be distributed throughout the state through the office’s outreach efforts and partner channels.
