Dougherty County Completes Road Resurfacing Projects

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Friday, November 1st, 2019

Dougherty County Public Works recently completed resurfacing work on several roads. These improvements were funded partially through Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) SPLOST VII funds and a Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) - a grant provided to Dougherty County by the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) in early May.

Dougherty County roads resurfaced as part of the project included Byron Plantation, Oakhaven Drive, Upland Court, Over Court, Redbud (from Cherry Laurel Lane to Roxanne Road), and Nelms (from Gravel Hill to Moultrie Road). The roads were resurfaced with new asphalt, striping, and raised pavement markers (RPM’s) were also installed. These improvements bring the roads’ condition scores up to 100 from the mid- to lower 60’s.

Additional resurfacing projects at Radium Springs in Dougherty County are in the final stages, including
Skywater, Azalea, Camilla, Dogwood, and Rosewood Drives. Funds for this project stem from the Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank (GTIB) the county received in late 2018, early 2019. The only remaining work includes finishing cosmetic work on some of the shoulders of the streets.
