Dougherty County Commission Votes on New Logo

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019

During the regular board meeting, the Dougherty County Board of Commissioners voted on a new county logo design. Final designs were presented by County Public Information Officer, Wendy Howell, at the June 24th work session, with the final selection and approval of one at the meeting.

The new logo replaces the current Dougherty County seal and will be the primary branding tool for the county. The seal will be revised and presented for approval later this summer, however, the seal will only be utilized for official documents for the county.

“The new logo symbolizes progression and prosperity,” said Christopher Cohilas, Chairman.

“We believe that the citizens will be proud of the new logo and will appreciate it for years to come.”

Designed to be complimentary to the City of Albany branding, as well as the local Albany Area Chamber of Commerce, the new county logo features fluid strokes of blue to represent the life of the Flint River, while the green stroke in between the blue strokes symbolizes the agricultural aspect Dougherty County is known for.

“The rebranding of Dougherty County is a vital part of our plan to continue moving the county forward,” said Michael McCoy, County Administrator. “The new logo will provide a visual avenue for our county as we continue to grow and be prosperous for our citizens.”

The soft rollout of the logo will begin to be used on county letterhead and press releases. Eventually,
citizens can expect to see a hard rollout taking place throughout the county as it is replaced on county vehicles and a full marketing campaign will complete the rollout. In addition, the new Dougherty County website design will be based on the new branding. Citizens can expect the new site to rollout mid- to late August.
