Morningside was selected as the school for Harvest of the Month. On Friday, May 10, Fredando Jackson known as “Farmer Fredo” and Chuck Von Glahn, owner of Von Glahn Farms in Baconton, visited Morningside Elementary to discuss harvesting blueberries.

Farmer Fredo works with the Georgia Farm-to-School Nutrition Program. The Georgia Farm-to-School program brings locally grown foods to schools, and offer the opportunity to educate children about nutrition and agriculture. Programs like these are educating students about food, taste testing and learning about gardening and agriculture.

Mr. Von Glahn allowed the students to taste test some blueberries and he also donated a blueberry plant to Morningside to plant into their garden. Dr. Christine Ford, principal gladly accepted the blueberry plant on behalf of the Morningside students.
