Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission President Justin Strickland has been awarded recertification as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

Strickland first achieved CEcD designation in 2013, following five years of required service in economic
development, mandatory coursework, and a three-part, two-day examination administered by IEDC. CEcD recertification is required every three years and requires candidates to meet demanding requirements for continuing education and service within their field.

The CEcD designation is a highly recognized accolade that denotes mastery of principal skills in economic development, professional excellence, and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

With just over 1,110 Certified Economic Developers worldwide, IEDC's certification program is the industry gold standard for excellence in the profession. CEcD’s work across the globe as public officials and business leaders to create and retain high-quality jobs, establish economic vibrancy, and improve quality of life for their communities.

Strickland has worked at the ADEDC since 2007 and has led the organization as president since 2014. During his tenure as president the ADEDC has announced major location and expansion projects, such as the recent announcement of the Georgia-Pacific Lumber plant, the re-location of the Coats & Clark North American Distribution Center, and sizeable expansions at Procter & Gamble and WebstaurantStore. He is a 2018 graduate of Leadership Georgia, served as the 2016-2017 chairman of Locate South Georgia - a regional economic development coalition of 21 South Georgia Communities, and has participated in and volunteered with an array of local programs from leadership organizations to a variety of civic groups and non-profits.
