National Victims Rights Week Recognized in Albany-Dougherty County This Week

The week of April 7-13, 2019 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week and Albany-Dougherty County will be holding various events in recognition of the week. Created to remember those who are no longer with us, survivors, and the plight of victims, this year’s theme is “Honoring Our Past. Creating Hope for the Future.”

Some of the events scheduled to be held this week include the Ribbon Campaign (April 8-13). Ribbons will be available to the public to wear to show support of crime victims’ rights. At 10 a.m. today, there will be a flag dedication at 225 Pine Avenue in front of the courthouse. On April 9th, there will be a “Planting the Seeds of Justice” program at 10 a.m. at the Kay Hind Sen-ior Center at 335 W. Society Avenue.

Events held April 10th, 11th and 12th include a Bake Sale and Awareness Booth from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Government Center Plaza at 222 Pine Avenue with an 11:30 a.m. Proclamation and Wreath Dedication Ceremony in Room 100 of the Government Center. A Vigil of Remem-brance and Hope program will be held at 222 Pine Avenue on April 11 at 6 p.m. The week will conclude with a Family Fun Night of Bowling on April 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Strikers Bowling Center at 1200 W. Broad Avenue.
