The Mayor and City Commissioners approved the Albany Utility Board's recommendation for contracting with Jim Boyd Construction, Albany, GA to provide a sanitary sewer extension for the Shadowlawn Drive neighborhood, for a total expenditure of $492,613.00 of SPLOST VI funds.

The project consists of installing approximately 5,100 linear feet of gravity sanitary sewer mains in the alleys and streets in the area of Shadowlawn Drive and Waddell Avenue. Four-inch diameter sewer service lines will be installed to serve the adjacent residential lots which do not have city sewer service.

The project work includes demolition and removal of designated areas of asphalt pavement, concrete pavement, and curbing; trenching, excavation, pipe installation, trench backfill, and compaction, finish grading of the disturbed areas, and all associated work as required.

Phil Roberson, Assistant City Manager, stated “We are excited about this project. This project is a joint effort made by citizens and the city that is a win-win for both parties. It adds to the utility customer base, and the citizens are provided a service that is needed in the area.”
