MCRD Parris Island, S.C., Recruits, Permanent Personnel Will Not Evacuate to MCLB Albany

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Wednesday, September 12th, 2018

MCLB Albany officials are no longer preparing to house recruits and permanent personnel from Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C.  With weather predictions showing Hurricane Florence trending away from South Carolina, coupled with the Governor lifting the evacuation of Beaufort and surrounding counties, MCRDPI officials have decided to remain in place and continue scheduled operations.

According to Parris Island officials, “Safety is a principle focus and with any decision, there is a degree of risk, and we believe the logistical effort of moving all personnel to MCLB Albany now exceed the risk of remaining at MCRD Parris Island.  We will continue to monitor weather trends in close partnership with South Carolina and Beaufort County Emergency Services.”
