Sylvester Dairy Queen Makes Special Delivery to Pediatric Patients and NICU Families at Phoebe

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Wednesday, August 8th, 2018

Last Wednesday, August 1, the Dairy Queen in Sylvester made a special delivery to pediatric patients and NICU families at Phoebe in Albany. Mark Casteel, owner of the Sylvester Dairy Queen, donated 50 Oreo Blizzards in celebration of Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day, which raises money for Children’s Miracle Network.

“Miracle Treat Day is special to me because it’s one of those days where I can give a little back to a community that has given so much to me. The support the Children's Miracle Network provides is a blessing to so many. I'm proud of Corporate DQ for partnering with CMN,” said Casteel.

During Miracle Treat Day, which was last Thursday, August 2, Dairy Queens around the country and here in Southwest Georgia donated $1 or more from every Blizzard Treat sold to CMN Hospitals. Money raised at participating locations in Southwest Georgia stays local and directly helps children in need in our area.

“Miracle Treat Day is such a fun and special day in our community because it gives all our citizens an easy way to give back to our local kids. Every dollar that is raised goes towards equipment, education, or programs that directly benefit our NICU babies and pediatric patient. I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support!” said Becca Miller, CMN Coordinator.

In addition, Casteel delivered 400 pre-ordered Blizzards to Phoebe Family members who purchased the blizzards to help raise funds for CMN.

Since 1984, the Dairy Queen system has raised more than $125 million for the charity through fundraising efforts including Miracle Treat Day, the Miracle Balloon campaign and other local initiatives.

Every penny raised locally to benefit Children’s Miracle Network stays in Southwest Georgia to help medical professionals treat our local children. Since 1997, Children’s Miracle Network supporters have raised more than $4.5 million to provide specialized equipment and programs to help babies and children treated at Phoebe. From life-saving equipment to help treat our most critically ill newborns to life-enhancing toys in the Pediatric Unit playroom, every child needing Phoebe’s care has benefited from funds raised through the Children’s Miracle Network.
