Monday, August 27th, 2018

U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., released the following statement on the passing of U.S. Senator John McCain:

“John McCain has left an example for all of us of what it takes to be an American patriot. His willingness to reach out to all to do what is right inspires us to work to find common ground. His life and work have left their indelible mark on history, and we all owe John a lot. May God bless John and his family.”

Isakson and McCain have served together in the U.S. Senate since 2005. As chairmen of the Senate Committees on Veterans’ Affairs and Armed Services, Isakson and McCain have worked closely together to improve care for veterans and ensure a seamless transition for service members from the U.S. Department of Defense to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Isakson also endorsed McCain in the primary of his 2008 presidential election bid and campaigned with him in Georgia.
