Department of Defense Awards Robotics Grants to 12 DCSS Elementary Schools

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded 12 Dougherty County School System elementary schools with a total of $3,900 to support and grow robotics programs. 

The grants were awarded to: Alice Coachman Elementary School, International Studies Elementary Charter School, Lake Park Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary Magnet School, Live Oak Elementary School, Martin Luther King, Jr., Elementary School, Morningside Elementary School, Radium Springs Elementary School, Robert Harvey Elementary School, Sherwood Acres Elementary School, Turner Elementary School and West Town Elementary School.

The grants will cover registration fees that allow the schools to participate in FIRST Robotics and will purchase robot kits that will be used both in the classroom and in competitions later this year. 

This is the second year DCSS has expanded robotics programs in the district.
