Israel – Georgia Collaborative Industry Innovation Program Applications Now Open

Monday, July 9th, 2018

An exciting opportunity is available for innovative companies who are looking to collaborate between Georgia and Israel. Israel’s Startup Nation and Georgia-based Southern Company have each put up $1 million to fund innovative tech and science based projects that are collaborative between the two regions. Applications are open now to companies with projects that qualify.

In the U.S., the Georgia Centers of Innovation will manage the program by helping collect and screen applications of the projects that apply for this funding.

Southern Company is interested in helping to fund innovative projects from Israel because of their consistently high-tech focus.

“Southern Company has seen the advantage of leveraging the Israeli grant program, and we thank its leaders for that decision,” said Steve Justice, Centers of Innovation Executive Director.

Pointing to the success achieved in other countries and states with similar programs, Justice sees mutual benefits for each region, with hopes that this initial partnership will spur further innovative collaborations between the two regions.

The application period is open now, seeking projects focused on a range of industries including vehicle automation and electrification; advanced materials; sustainable energy, water, and agriculture; public safety; smart home; data analytics and more. Average grant amounts will range from $125,000 to $400,000. As other Georgia companies step forward with interest in sponsoring joint projects, the Center of Innovation will work with them and the Israel Innovation Authority on specific requirements for those potential projects.

Applications are due by September 4, 2018. Click here for more information about application process.
