2018 GOMI and Wage & Salary Surveys Are Live

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, June 20th, 2018

Each year the Department of Community Affairs administers a government management indicators survey and a wage & salary survey to Georgia's local governments. GMA strongly encourages all cities in Georgia to complete both of these surveys by June 30.

The Government Management Indicators survey collects data on local government operations, including financial management practices, service delivery arrangements, public facilities provided, and planning efforts. This information is helpful in identifying trends in local government operations. As such the data can be useful to state level policy makers and researchers, as well as local governments themselves.

The GOMI data will also be used to develop future Community Indicators. These indicators are a new effort by DCA to produce short reports on communities within Georgia. The reports will present data on key community characteristics and provide the average reader with a sense of how their community stacks up against other communities.

The Wage & Salary survey requests the pay range, number of full time employees, and the number of hours worked each week for over 160 different local government jobs. Information from the survey is used to produce printable reports for use by local governments. The printable reports are available in county and municipal editions for positions in each of four groups: General and Administrative; Public Safety; Public Works; and Elected Officials.

Both surveys are due to the Department of Community Affairs on June 30. Should you not know your city's log-in or password, you may e-mail [email protected] to get assistance logging into the survey. Also, city officials are encourage to update their contact information with DCA's Office of Research at this link.
