GSW to Host Georgia Future Educators Signing Day on May 8th

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Monday, May 7th, 2018

Georgia Southwestern State University will host one of the Georgia Future Educators Signing Day events going on across the state on Tuesday, May 8th starting at 10 a.m. in the School of Education. Similar to athletic signing events, area high school students will be recognized for their commitment to pursue a career in the field of education. This initiative, created by Georgia’s School Superintendent Richard Woods, emphasizes the positive highlights of the education profession.

Area schools will be present with graduating seniors who will “sign” their letter of commitment to a specific university, including GSW. Also in attendance will be Georgia House of Representative Bill McGowan, Sumter County School Superintendent Torrance Choates, and representatives from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, Educators Rising, and RESA (Regional Education Service Agencies). Local system administrators/teachers, college and university representatives, and other government officials are invited to attend this ceremony.

This endeavor is supported by the State School Superintendent’s Office, Division of Career and Technical Education (CTAE), Georgia Early Childhood Education Foundation (GECEF), and Georgia’s colleges and universities.
