Thomas University recently partnered with the Department of Defense in an agreement to provide practitioner training to the Defense Acquisition Workforce, which includes employees of the DoD who work in positions in Acquisition, Technology and Logistics.

The Defense Acquisition University provides mandatory, assignment-specific and continuing education courses for military and civilian acquisition personnel within the Department of Defense, Defense industry and Federal Acquisition civilian workforce.  Its mission is to provide a global learning environment to support a mission-ready Defense Acquisition Workforce that delivers, and sustains effective and affordable warfighting capabilities.

TU officials recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the DAU that endorses TU as an authorized equivalent provider. This agreement allows TU to explore additional partnerships with Federal agencies to provide Federal Acquisition, Contracting and Logistics Training.

“TU is now one of only a few select organizations that have been approved by DAU to offer their courses,” said Stephen Ferguson, TU’s Associate Vice President of Enrollment, Military Operations. “Further, the partnership will assist the DoD with training needs currently difficult to satisfy throughout the Southeast.”

The courses will be open to active duty military personnel, U.S. Government civilian acquisition workforce and individuals that would like to learn how to conduct business with the United States Government.

“TU will primarily offer courses in Federal Contract Management, to include all required core courses of the DAWIA (Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act) and (The Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting) FAC-C Certifications,” Ferguson said. “Those courses include, but are not limited to Contracting and Acquisition as well as Logistics and Program Management.”

Anyone interested in conducting business with the U.S. Government can take TU’s DAU courses. There is no degree requirement to register.

Also, TU is now authorized to provide DoD-approved Federal Contract Management training throughout the U.S.
