Attorney General Chris Carr joined a 22-state coalition challenging a California law, known as The Reproductive FACT Act, which requires licensed pro-life pregnancy centers to post signs or distribute notices to all clients that advertise the availability of state-funded abortions.

“California’s Reproductive FACT Act encroaches on the constitutionally protected right of free speech by forcing pro-life organizations to convey an advertisement for state-sponsored abortions,” said Attorney General Chris Carr.

In the brief, the multi-state coalition asks the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit that upheld the California law.

The following states also joined the amicus brief which was authored by Texas: Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin, along with Kentucky Governor Matthew Bevin and Maine Governor Paul LePage.
