Albany Technical College Healthcare Technology to Hold Fall Capping & Pinning Today

Albany Technical College’s Healthcare Technology division will hold the fall 2017 Capping and Pinning ceremony on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, beginning at 12Noon, in the Kirkland Conference Center.
Seventy-five students will be capped and pinned in the following programs: Practical Nursing, Registered Nursing, Pharmacy Technology, Surgical Technology, Radiologic Technology, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Health Information Technology and Paramedicine.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Marla Jackson-Fowler, English and Humanities instructor at Albany Technical College. A native of Camilla, Georgia, Jackson-Fowler is a graduate of Mitchell-Baker High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Albany State University and an MPA with a concentration in Human Resources at Albany State. She went on to earn a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from Walden University.

Jackson-Fowler is the author of two novels: Climbing the Ladder of Love and Going Down the Ladder of Love. She is a member of the Georgia and National Council of Teachers of English, the National Association of Public Administrators, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She has been the recipient of several awards, including Albany State’s 50 Under 50, and the Albany Herald’s 40 Under 40, as well as numerous writing awards.

Beginning her career as an English instructor at Albany Tech, Jackson-Fowler also serves as the Chair of the English and General Core division. She has also taught at Darton State College and Albany State University and has served as a copy editor and reporter, as well as an editor for several novels for upcoming authors.
