GCAPS Students Tour Dougherty EMS Headquarters

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Tuesday, October 24th, 2017

A group of Dougherty County School System high school students got the chance to tour the Dougherty EMS headquarters and speak with their director about careers in Emergency Medicine, challenges of the job and other facets of how paramedics and EMTs save lives.

The students, who were a part of the 2017 GCAPS Class (Georgia Civics Awareness Program for Students), learned how EMS leaders work collaboratively with the Dougherty County Commission Administration to develop budgets, plan and address employee needs, and provide services within Dougherty County.

The group meets monthly at a different county government agency to learn about operations and get a first-hand view of careers and opportunities in those fields.

The group's next program day is Nov. 9 at the Dougherty County Judicial Center.
