Candidates Narrowed for Next DoCo Administrator Search

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Friday, October 27th, 2017

Earlier in March 2017, Richard Crowdis announced his desire to retire this year, ending his distinguished career as Dougherty County Administrator. Shortly after, the Board of Commissioners decided to move swiftly in a national search for the best candidate to fill the position as his replacement to continue effectively executing recovery efforts from the January storms. The commission approved an agreement that enlisted the Carl Vinson Institute of Government’s Strategic Operations and Planning Division at the University of Georgia to assist with the national search for candidates.

The University’s Institute completed the following:

● Developed a County Administrator Profile

● Drafted a position advertisement

● Assisted in screening applicants

● Conducted Open-Source Background investigation of finalists by verifying education and former employment

● Developed the Interview Guide

Upon thoroughly reviewing all 115 submitted applications and resumes, the Board has now selected five
candidates to begin interviewing in coming weeks.
