DCSS Kicks off Project Search and Community-Based Instruction Programs

DCSS Community-Based Instruction program and Project Search program kick-off was held on September 6, at the ESP Complex.

Students from all three high schools attended this event as well as community partner (TJMaxx) and community agencies (Easter Seals, Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation, Goodwill Industries and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital).

The keynote speaker was a former participant of both programs, Ms. Karmen Farrar. Karmen stated that the program helped her get her job. She is currently working in Lee County at a local consignment shop.

The personnel from the community agencies and community partnerships gave the students’ accolades for their excellent work ethics exhibited in their businesses.

CBI and Project Search programs allow students with disabilities an opportunity to prepare for the world of work. CBI Instructor-LaVonda Gervin, Project Search Instructor-Mr. Willie Presley, Transition Specialist-Annette Scott and ESP Director-Dr. Dianne Boges.
