Cancer Coalition to Honor Husband and Wife Cancer Survivors for Third Annual Night for Hope in Americus

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Friday, September 15th, 2017

The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia is pleased to host its third annual Americus “Night for Hope” on Thursday, September 28. All proceeds from the event will stay here in our area and be used to help local residents.

The 2017 event proudly honors husband and wife cancer survivors, Dr. and Mrs. Louis and Candy Riccardi.

Different from national cancer organizations, every penny donated to the Cancer Coalition stays here to help our community as we continue the fight against cancer, now under the new name of Horizons Community Solutions.

The special evening will include wine and beer, heavy hors d’oeuvres and desserts from Cousins Catering, a silent auction, and live music from Joey Recker. Held at The Lee Council House, it will begin at 6:30 in the evening, with business casual dress.

Dr. Lou Riccardi, a highly respected dentist, and his wife Candy, a talented vocalist, are beloved community members who are grateful to have survived cancer. They strongly believe in the Cancer Coalition’s work in cancer prevention, screening, education, community research, and assisting local patients. With the community’s support, we will be able to honor Dr. and Mrs. Riccardi and all families touched by the high rates of cancer in our community.

Cancer Coalition CEO Diane Fletcher said, “We are thrilled to have this highly respected and dearly loved couple as our 2017 Night for Hope honorees! I challenge everyone to become involved, so we can exceed our fundraising goals and continue our lifesaving work against cancer.” Retired board members Billie Gatewood and Shelly Sullivan also encourage other residents to enjoy a delightful evening while knowing they are supporting an important local cause.

Fletcher stated, “We are grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, our corporate partners, Keystone-Equity Group, Southeastern Credit Union, DOCO Credit Union, and Georgia CEO; and our other sponsors thus far: Agrium US, Inc., Dr. Louis Riccardi and Dr. Alexandra Riccardi General Dentistry, AfterHours Care of Americus, and Innovative Senior Solutions. We are seeking and welcome additional business and individual sponsors as well as donations.”

Everyone is invited to invest in the local fight against cancer and make a difference by attending the event, being a sponsor, or donating auction items or services.

Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased online at www.horizonscommunity.org, locally at Citizens Bank (Tripp Street), The Kinnebrew Co. or Minick Interiors, or by calling 229-352-9100.
