AT&T is contributing $20,000 to the Salvation Army to support their disaster relief efforts in Georgia in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

The contribution will support our Georgia communities impacted by Hurricane Irma.

In the aftermath of the storm, the men and women of AT&T deployed immediately to ensure residents and businesses could stay connected. Charging stations were also deployed to retail locations across impacted areas to help keep those impacted connected to news reports and family as power was restored.

AT&T continues to work closely with federal, state and local leaders as well as community organizations like the Salvation Army to respond to needs.

“I am grateful for the support that the Albany Area business community is showing in this time of need. It is encouraging to have our businesses investing in our community and creating jobs as we rebuild and restore,” said Barbara Rivera Holmes, President/CEO of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.

“As we work with families and residents in the impacted communities – men and women who are facing immediate and long-term needs as a result of Irma’s impact – this additional support from AT&T and others in the community is essential,” said Lanita Loyd, Emergency Disaster Services Director for the Salvation Army Georgia Division.

“As businesses and residents work to restore their communities, we see many examples of Georgians overcoming tough challenges and supporting their neighbors,” said Courtney Brinson, AT&T Regional Director of External and Legislative Affairs. “At AT&T, we are committed to providing communication resources needed every day and especially in times like these. We are also committed to doing our part to help our friends, neighbors and communities recover from disasters like this storm.”

AT&T is donating $1.4 million to hurricane relief, which includes a $1 million matching donation to Team Rubicon, an organization that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams, and support to the Salvation Army and Telecoms Sans Frontieres, a group that is working to reestablish connectivity for emergency responders and communities in the Caribbean.

With Team Rubicon, AT&T is matching donations through the text-to-donate program, no matter which wireless carrier one uses, up to $1 million. AT&T wireless customers can text “RUBICON” to 80077 todonate $10 to Team Rubicon. No text message fees apply. AT&T employees should text from non-COU devices.
