Schools.com recently published their list of the Best 4-Year Colleges in Georgia, and Georgia Southwestern State University ranked among the top ten.

Out of all of the public and private non-profit schools in Georgia where students can earn a campus-based or online bachelor's degree in Georgia, GSW ranks at number eight.

To come up with a top ten list, Schools.com gathered data from the National Center for Education Statistics and other U.S. Department of Education sources on 50+ schools in the state and analyzed it with their 13-point methodology.

Georgia Southwestern’s smaller size in comparison to many of the schools on the list “suggests an intimate learning environment where students can earn their degrees without contending with the hustle and bustle of a large national university,” the site said.

“One-to-one communication between faculty and students at Georgia Southwestern is not simply a selling point,” said GSW President Neal Weaver. “It takes place every day on our campus and online through our learning management system. The focused attention we give to students is an aspect of our learning environment that we take great pride in. It is no surprise that we have been recognized for it with this ranking from schools.com.”

“Students looking for online Georgia-based degrees seem to flock to Georgia Southwestern,” the website added. “The Americus school posted the highest percentage enrollment in distance education programs of any school on our list, with nearly 60 percent of students taking at least some of their coursework in the virtual classroom. It also had the second-highest student retention rate among our best traditional and online colleges in Georgia.”

Among the top ten were the Georgia Institute of Technology (#1) and the University of Georgia (#2).
