Speaker Ralston Announces Members of the House Study Committee on Utilization and Modernization of the State Capitol and Other Buildings

Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) announced the members of the House Study Committee on Utilization and Modernization of the State Capitol and Other Buildings:

  • Rep. Matt Hatchett – Chair (R-Dublin)

  • Rep. Penny Houston (R-Nashville)

  • Rep. Bert Reeves (R-Marietta)

  • Rep. Richard Smith (R-Columbus)

  • Rep. Al Williams (D-Midway)

Pursuant to the resolution establishing the study committee, the Speaker has also appointed the following citizen-members:

  • Paige Greene – President, Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce (Ellijay)

  • Marshall Guest – Vice President for Business Climate, Metro Chamber (Atlanta)

  • Tom Hall – President, Dublin Construction Company (Dublin)

This study committee is created by House Resolution 629 and will examine certain state buildings including the State Capitol, Coverdell Legislative Office Building, and Governor’s Mansion as well as associated facilities and grounds to ensure the most efficient and effective use of these spaces.
