Albany Technical College Launches New Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Program for Fall Semester

Albany Technical College will launch a brand new Interdisciplinary Studies associate of applied science degree program for this fall semester. The program is designed specifically for Move On When Ready students who wish to pursue a career in healthcare technology.

The new program will provide an educational foundation for roles that span multiple disciplines in the healthcare environment, including Central Sterile Supply Processing Technician Specialization, Electrocardiography Technology Specialization, Nurse Aide Specialization, and Phlebotomy Specialization. Other areas will include Health Information Technology, Nursing, Surgical Technology, and Radiology. Students will be required to complete at least three specializations.

“We are excited to roll out this new program to our MOWR students who are interested in careers in the healthcare field,” said Dr. Tanjula Petty, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Albany Tech. “We believe this program will provide a competitive advantage for high school graduates wanting to compete for entry into nursing, surgical technology, radiologic technology, or paramedicine programs.”

The program will be available for students to start enrolling for the fall semester, which will begin on August 21, 2017.
