Holiday Workshop for Kids, Opportunity for Festive Art Activities

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Thursday, December 8th, 2016

The Albany Museum of Art will host The Libby Womack Holiday Workshop, scheduled for Dec. 19 to Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1 - 4 p.m. or a full day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with early drop off starting at 8 a.m. and late pick up ending at 5 p.m. This workshop is for children grades K4 – 5, with smaller work groups made by age and grade level.

The Libby Womack Holiday Workshop, sponsored by AMA trustee, Jim Womack, provides a great opportunity for kids to get creative at the museum during the holidays. These half-day or full-day workshops offer gallery explorations, art instruction and festive art-making projects. Different instruction and activities are planned each day to keep kids lively so your child can attend one or multiple days.

While the museum has hosted holiday camps, classes and workshops in the past, this is the only workshop named in memory of the late Libby Womack, a long-time friend, educator and trustee at the Albany Museum of Art. Her husband of 39 years, Jim, continues to honor her life and the significant contributions she made in the community.

“Libby was very passionate about education and art and believed art was critical to development and in opening up the children’s minds, particularly early grade level children,” Womack said. “She was totally committed to the museum and public education, always seeking ways to bring kids into the museum, including working with the county school system on field trips to the museum.”

The cost for the workshop for the week is: Members - full day/$140 or half day/$90 or $40/day, future members - full day/$175 or half day/$105 or $50/day. For more details and registration information visit www.albanymuseum.com/holiday-workshop or call (229) 439-8400. Space is limited.
