UGA SBDC Offers Free Google Class November 30th

Staff Report From Albany CEO

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

We want to help every business get found on the web.  People are searching online for businesses every day. This class will teach business owners and managers how customers can find and connect with their business by adding key business information to Google Search and Maps.  It’s easy and free.

Research from Google indicates that 97% of consumers look online for local goods and services, yet only 37% of businesses have claimed a local business listing on a search engine. “Even if you don’t conduct transactions online, it is still extremely important that you have your correct info easily accessible on the web,” says UGA SBDC Business Consultant Heather Sharpe.  “Consumers are looking for your info – including directions, hours of operation, and contact info – online.  Google encourages organizations to claim their free map listing so that they can match consumers with the info they need.”

Any business, whether you have storefronts or service areas, can appear on Google Maps. Google My Business does not replace a business website. It complements the business web presence by helping Google present accurate, up-to-date information. Business owners can update business details, respond to customer reviews, and see how customers find them on Google.
