Staff Report From Albany CEO

Friday, October 28th, 2016

Phoebe Putney Health System has named Jennifer Moree as the 2016 Volunteer of the Year in recognition of her dedicated volunteer service to the organization. Jennifer was among those honored at Phoebe’s 33rd Annual Volunteer Recognition luncheon, held at the Bindery at Oakland Library on Tuesday.

Since 2003, Jennifer has been a dedicated Phoebe volunteer donating 5,200 hours of service. She was presented this award in recognition of her service not only to Phoebe but to patients and their families. Jennifer, who primarily volunteers in Surgical Family Waiting, recognizes the important role that volunteers play and serves as a great advocate for families. Over the years, Jennifer has also served in Volunteer Services and as a member of the Volunteer Advisory Board.

Suzanne Perrine, director of Phoebe Volunteer Services, introduced Jennifer stating, “Whether its stuffing envelopes, keeping stats or serving in Surgical Family Waiting three days a week, if needed, she has always been there to fill the need.”

The volunteer of the year is chosen by the volunteer advisory board, which receives nominations from departments throughout the health system.

Also recognized during the luncheon were Harold Harden for most hours logged in fiscal year 2015-16 (1,654); Vera Howell, who volunteers at Phoebe Worth, for most total cumulative hours (11,300); most years of service was awarded to Tommy Taylor for 35 years and Sue Whitaker for 36 years; and Charlie Phillips, who at 94 years old is Phoebe’s oldest volunteer.

More than 500 men and women donate their time to support approximately 80 different areas at Phoebe. During the 2015-2016 year, 500 volunteers gave 52,660 hours of service.
