Kohl’s announced it had donated $35,272 to the Phoebe Network of Trust School Health Program, making its total contribution exceed $100,000 over the past five years.

“Kohl’s has been a dedicated supporter of children’s health across the country. We are very fortunate to have such a great partner here in Albany,” said Angie Barber, director of the Network of Trust school health program. “Along with the donations, which allow us to continue hosting important health fair events, Kohl’s associates also volunteer on a regular basis to make our events a success.”

This year’s grant is expected to support the Kohl’s Cares School Health Program, which provides health screenings and information to eighth-graders at public and private schools in Dougherty and Lee counties. Officials said that Network of Trust is planning to expand this program to Dougherty County’s elementary schools and Westover High School this year.

Kohl’s commitment to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is made through the Kohl’s Cares merchandise program. Kohl’s sells $5 books and toys through the initiative, from which 100 percent of net profit benefit children’s health initiatives nationwide, including hospital partnerships, officials with the retailer said.

Kohl’s officials said the company has raised nearly $300 million through this merchandise program.

Through the Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 1 million associates have donated more than 3.7 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl’s has donated more than $112 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations, officials with the company said.
