UPS Announces Changes to Finance Leadership Team

UPS announced Joe Wilkins will move into the role of Vice President and Corporate Controller and Scott Childress has been named Vice President and Investor Relations Officer. Both will report to Chief Financial Officer Richard Peretz.

Wilkins has served as head of Investor Relations since 2014. In his new role as Vice President and Corporate Controller, he will be responsible for the finance and accounting activities of all UPS business units and UPS Airlines; as well as the functions of Business Information and Analytics, Standards, F&A Strategy, Real Estate, and Global Accounting Sites. The position was previously held by Mark Vale, who has accepted a special assignment in international operations.
 
Childress has served as UPS’s Vice President of Investor Relations for the past year and will now lead the quarterly earnings reporting function and ongoing relationships with leading investors. He was previously Chief Financial Officer for the Americas Region.  Childress also has had 11 years of experience in the international segment, serving as Vice President of Finance for Canada in 2008, and later as Vice President of Finance in Europe.   
 
Wilkins, a 31-year veteran of the company, started his career in 1985 as a part-time package handler. In 1989, he was promoted into management and has held a variety of accounting and finance leadership positions throughout the U.S., rising to North Central Region Finance Director. He moved to international operations in 2003, serving as Vice President of Finance for Canada, then Vice President of Finance for the Asia Pacific region.  In 2007, he was appointed Chief Financial Officer for U.S. Domestic Small Package operations. Wilkins earned an undergraduate degree in business from Oklahoma Baptist University and an MBA from Oklahoma City University.
 
Childress joined UPS in 1997 supporting the UPS Air Group.  Later that year, he was promoted to management and held a variety of accounting and finance leadership positions within the Air Group and Corporate Finance and Accounting before moving to international operations. Childress holds an undergraduate degree in Business Management from Eastern Kentucky University, MBA from Eastern Kentucky University, and Masters of Science in Economics from University of Kentucky.
