Deerfield-Windsor School recently received renewal of its accreditation by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). DWS is also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and “accredited with quality” by the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

To earn accreditation from SAIS, Deerfield-Windsor complied with quality standards, was evaluated by an outside group of peer professionals, and implemented a school plan focused on strategic improvement and student performance in accordance with the school’s mission.

“In today’s world of accountability in education, accreditation serves as a critical component of a school’s demonstrated effectiveness and ability to provide successful schooling for our children,” DWS Headmaster Dave Davies said.

A team representing SAIS conducted an on-site visit to review this school’s self-study and standards compliance and its adherence to its mission. The team was comprised of diverse educational leaders from some of the finest institutions in the southeast. The visiting team sought the answers to critical questions the school asked of itself.

SAIS accredited member schools are part of an international network of accredited schools that have demonstrated success in educating children. As such, SAIS accreditation is recognized throughout the world as a symbol of quality in education for students and teachers.

The visiting team praised DWS, commenting that, “the school’s four identifiable goals for the next five years were tangible and directly related to validated School needs …”

They also complimented the school on its efforts to enhance the physical and emotional safety of its students, its focus on faculty professional development, and for choosing and retaining strong school leadership.

In addition, the team praised the writing center, world language program, and fine arts programs. They commented that DWS is “poised to deepen its position as a leader in independent education in its market field.”

DWS is accredited for the next five years.
