Friday, October 31st, 2014

The needs of students and working professionals is continually evolving. In an effort to respond to the ever-changing needs of students and make earning a college degree more accessible, Darton State College announced today that it is expanding their academic offerings to include three new online bachelor’s degree programs through the University System of Georgia’s eMajor collaborative program.

Darton students will now be able to earn a bachelor’s degree in legal assistant studies, office administration and technology, and organizational leadership with the choice of concentration in health care, public service, legal office administration, and Spanish for professional for ESOL instruction.

“We are extremely excited to offer these new bachelor degrees.  These adult-friendly programs are fully online and continue Darton’s tradition of offering a strong foundation of student support services,” said Renita Luck, director of online learning.

eMajor is a University System of Georgia (USG) collaborative program that delivers flexible, online degree programs through USG affiliate institutions. Darton State College joins Dalton State, Fort Valley State University, and Valdosta State University as an eMajor affiliate. Courses are offered in both 8-week and 16-week sessions and are taught by instructors from USG institutions.

“Darton is uniquely positioned to offer students stackable curriculum, which will allow them to earn an associate’s degree as they work towards their bachelor’s.  This will open doors along the way for new job opportunities, and potential promotions and salary increases.  The programs also offer opportunities for prior learning assessment credit and are an ideal option for working professionals and military members, as well as for the traditional student,” said Renita Luck.

Students apply and register for eMajor classes the same way they have registered for other classes at Darton. Registration is now open and classes will begin Spring 2015.
