GSW to Celebrate Jimmy Carter’s 90th Birthday

Georgia Southwestern State University is proud to host a 90th birthday celebration concert for President Jimmy Carter Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. in Jackson Performance Hall.

The public is invited to join President Carter, who will be 90 on Oct. 1, for the event which features internationally known Steinway artist David Osborne. A reception will immediately follow in the Thomas O. Marshall, Jr. Pavilion Private Dining Room.

Osborne has performed nearly every year for President Carter's birthday during the last three decades. The concert will showcase the American song book that Osborne presents nightly at his performance venue, The Bellagio Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas.

Internationally known bassist Danny DeMorales of Las Vegas will join Osborne as well as Paul Stubblefield, who will be playing the drums and signing.

The cost is $30 per person, and seats should be reserved by Wednesday, Sept. 24 by calling (229) 931-2014.

Both President Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter are Georgia Southwestern alumni. Proceeds from the event will be used for the Georgia Southwestern Foundation Scholarship program.
