The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association located in Washington, D.C., recently announced its 2014 board of directors.  Among its leaders is Jay Short, president and owner of Short & Paulk Supply Company.  Short was appointed as dealer representative for the Construction Suppliers Association, a regional building material trade association that partners with NLBMDA and maintains a seat on its board of directors.

Short & Paulk has been a member of CSA for over 20 years. During that time, Short held numerous positions on CSA's board, including chairman in 2007. CSA president, Jim Moody, emphasized the importance of Jay's new role by stating, "Serving as our representative on the national board is a tremendous responsibility. Our national group is focused on working with our government to ensure that those making regulations and laws fully understand the issues and implications of their decisions on our industry. Jay's great understanding of the lumber business makes him indispensable in that effort."

In addition to his current role as CSA's dealer representative for NLBMDA, Short is vice chair of NLBMDA's Regulatory Affairs Committee, an appointed member of Tift County Development Authority, member of the Executive Council on Construction Supply, and in March 2013, completed six years of service on the board of directors for the Lumbermens Merchandising Corporation.

NLBMDA represents its members in the national public policy arena, with emphasis on efforts to promote the industry and educate legislators and public policy personnel; and assist legislative, regulatory, standard-setting and other government or private bodies in the development of laws, regulations and policies affecting lumber and building material dealers, its customers and suppliers.

The Construction Suppliers Association (CSA) is a trade association dedicated to building strong independent dealers in Georgia and Alabama. The association serves as the voice of its members to state and federal government. CSA also provides a wide range of educational and cost-saving programs to businesses in the building materials industry.

In existence since 1941, Short & Paulk Supply Company provides lumber, hardware and building materials for residential and commercial construction projects throughout South Georgia. Locations include Albany, Dawson, Sylvester and Tifton. For more information, visit www.shortpaulk.com.
