Linda Lawson Appointed SGMC Assistant Administrator-Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive

South Georgia Medical Center and its affiliated campuses are pleased to announce that Linda Lawson, RN, MSN, NEA-BC has been appointed to the position of Assistant Administrator-Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive effective October 1, 2013.

Lawson most recently served as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer for SGMC since August 2012. She has more than 20 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and 12 years of nursing leadership/management experience. While serving as a nursing leader at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, Lawson was the Director of the Magnet Designation Team with Magnet Designation being awarded in 2011.

“My goal is to become a servant leader to nurses at SGMC, working together to ensure they have a voice in their practice at every level and feel empowered to make ‘right’ decisions on behalf of our patients,” said Lawson. “We will commit to evidence-based care and will adhere to all regulatory requirements and standards. By embracing servant leadership, we will achieve and maintain high levels of morale in the nursing division.”

Lawson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Florida and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. She has the added credentials of a Legal Nurse Consultant Diploma and is a Board Certified Nurse Executive-Advanced through the American Nursing Credentialing Center. She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and American Nurses Association. Lawson is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Administration. She is married to Danny Lawson and their son, Brett, is currently attending medical school at Ross University.
