Darton State College & Albany Symphony Association Form Partnership

Darton State College and the Albany Symphony Association join together in a collaborative partnership, which will sustain and grow the performing arts at Darton and in South Georgia. The Albany Symphony Orchestra, one of South Georgia’s most revered music and cultural institutions, is known for its brilliant live performances, adventurous programming and recording projects, innovative educational initiatives and engaging cultural events.
This year, as a part of this partnership, there will be three concerts by the Albany Symphony Orchestra at the Darton Theater. This 470-seat proscenium playhouse is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, excellent acoustics and unobstructed sightlines. Each concert will have 2 performances, a 2:30 matinee and 7:30 evening. The three performances are Saturday, September 28, “East Meets West” featuring Su Chang, renowned guzheng artist, Saturday, December 7, “Celtic Holiday Celebration” featuring the Mithril Celtic Ensemble, and Saturday, April 12, 2014 “An Evening of Italian Opera” featuring area choruses, including Darton Sate dancers and soloists.
