The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and PwC US today announced that Jeff Arnold will be inducted into the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia at the Technology Association of Georgia's 2013 Georgia Technology Summit on March 20, 2013 at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta.

Arnold is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sharecare, a leading health and wellness social network launched in October 2010 by Arnold and Dr. Mehmet Oz in partnership with Harpo Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Discovery Communications. Sharecare helps people live healthier lives by connecting them to personalized resources, including credible information, interactive tools and healthcare providers. The company helps health-conscious consumers, leading hospitals, non-profits, healthcare professionals and healthcare companies create a community where healthcare knowledge is built, shared and put into practice.  Arnold is also Chairman of Forbes Travel Guide, formerly Mobil Travel Guide, and originator of the prestigious Five Star ratings which has provided comprehensive ratings and reviews of hotels, restaurants and spas since 1958 and recently launched a new social travel platform, Startle.com.

"Jeff Arnold has been instrumental in shaping Georgia's technology community and, through his work, has helped millions of people find targeted content on the Internet," said John Nee, leader of PwC's technology practice in Atlanta. "With many achievements throughout his career, Jeff continues to strengthen the industry, because he is at the forefront of what consumers want and need. He truly exemplifies the essence of innovation and leadership, aligning with the mission of the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia. We are honored to welcome him into this prestigious group."

Prior to launching Sharecare, Arnold was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HowStuffWorks.com, an award-winning online resource accessed by millions of people. He later sold the company in 2007 to Discovery Communications, where he served as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Digital Strategy Officer for Discovery and continues as Chairman Emeritus of HowStuffWorks. Prior to founding HowStuffWorks.com, Arnold founded and served as CEO of WebMD Corporation, one of the first healthcare companies to harness the power of the Internet to create a destination for consumers, healthcare institutions and physicians to find trustworthy medical information.  Arnold also was the founder of Quality Diagnostic Services, which he grew into a leading cardiac arrhythmia monitoring company, ultimately selling it to Matria Healthcare in 1998.

"As the founder of WebMD and now Sharecare, Jeff Arnold has long served as a shining example of the innovative and enterprising spirit that has made Georgia a leading technology center," said Tino Mantella, president of the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). “Jeff is a true inspiration to many in our technology community and TAG is pleased to see him inducted into the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia at the 2013 Georgia Technology Summit.”

The Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia was established in 1993 to recognize the achievements of outstanding members of Georgia's technology community.  Each year an inductee is chosen in recognition of his or her contributions to the technology industry in Georgia and impact on the state. PwC has been a lead sponsor of the Technology Hall of Fame of Georgia since its inception and recently has collaborated with TAG to induct the honoree in a special ceremony at the annual Georgia Technology Summit.
