Albanian Wins Department of Labor award

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announced today that Jacquelyn (Jackie) Allen-Polites of Albany, a disabled veteran outreach program (DVOP) representative in the Georgia Department of Labor’s (GDOL) Albany Career Center, has been named the department’s DVOP representative of the year for 2011.
Allen-Polites won the award at the 69th annual conference of the Georgia Chapter of the International Association of Workforce Professionals (IAWP), held recently in Savannah. IAWP is a professional association for members who work in public and private workforce development programs.
The award is given annually to a DVOP who has done the most to assist disabled veterans and to promote interest in veterans’ rights in the workplace.
Allen-Polites was nominated for the award by Sharon Warren, a supervisor in the Albany Career Center, which serves Calhoun, Dougherty, Lee, and Terrell counties.
