Trio of Changes Made at Albany Convention & Visitors Bureau

The Albany Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has announced a new staff structure at the CVB. Albany Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Catherine Glover says one of the moves takes place immediately, while two will be effective next month.

Albany State Universuty student Teresa Smith, who has served as an information clerk and services coordinator at the CVB, will take over as the Welcome Center manager, Glover said. Smith replaces Rashelle Beasley, who last month to interim CVB manager. Beasley replaced former CVB manager Lisa Riddle, who was terminated in September.

In December, longtime Chamber staffer Jenny Collins will join the CVB staff as its marketing and communications Manager.

Also joining the CVB team in December is former Strive2Thrive Circles Coach Courtney Spencer, an alumnus of Albany State University and a former student spokesperson for the school. Spencer will take over duties vacated by Liz Gray, who served as a full-time sales and public relations manager for the CVB. Gray now works in a similar capacity for the Merry Acres hotel and convention center.

Glover said the staff, all familiar with the Albany community and its amenities, will provide new opportunities for the CVB to be more competitive, well-rounded and representative of the community at-large.

“We are blessed to have some really talented and dedicated people in this community,” Glover said. “All we needed to do is look internally and assess whether we had the right people in the right places. Once we did that, the restructuring came naturally. Encouraging some our team members to bring a fresh perspective to an already successful organization is just the thing we need to build momentum and drive even stronger results in the future.”

“These ladies are hard-workers, have a passion for Albany and work very well together. We’re very excited!,” Glover said.
