Friday, April 22nd, 2011
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital has begun their 100-day count down to their 100th Anniversary.
Thursday the hospital raised a new flag commemorating their century of business in south Georgia where it all began on Jefferson Street. Flags were raised at other Phoebe locations as well. The hospital also unveiled a Georgia Historical Society marker where the original hospital stood when it opened its doors in 1911. The hospital's future however lies with a new workforce.
"We are investing heavily in education programs for future doctors, future pharmacists, future nurses we are growing our own. If you look back 30 years from now there will be parts of this country that wish they had the foresight to invest in training and educating their future workforce," said Joel Wernick, Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital CEO.
