March Was Georgia Ports' Best For Roll On/Roll Off
Thursday, April 21st, 2011
More than 42,000 autos and other wheeled equipment rolled through Georgia Ports Authority’s Colonel’s Island Terminal in Brunswick last month, making it the ports best ever month for roll-on/roll-off — or Ro/Ro — cargo.
In making the announcement Tuesday, ports executive director Curtis Foltz attributed the volume gains to a number of factors, including economic recovery, a renewed consumer market for automobiles and the terminal’s expanded vehicle processing center facilities.
“Brunswick has become the sixth largest U.S. auto port by having the best work force, unsurpassed infrastructure, room to grow and a sound marketing plan to capitalize on its strengths,” Foltz said.
