Synovus CEO Stelling’s Comp up to $884K

Synovus Financial Corp. more than doubled Kessel D. Stelling Jr.’s total compensation in 2010, the same year he took the reins of the Columbus, Ga.-based financial services company.

According to a proxy filing Friday, Stelling’s total compensation was $884,851 last year, compared with $369,335 in 2009. Stelling became Synovus CEO in October 2010, replacing Richard E. Anthony, who took a medical leave of absence to seek treatment for Wegener’s Syndrome.
